A quiet moment as I’m washing the dishes

Holidays are approaching quickly!  I’m so grateful to the lovely people that chose to do their holiday shopping in my little store.  It’s been a great month.  (you like me!  you really like me!)   Now that I’m visiting the family and hundreds of miles away from home, it’s really sunk in that Christmas is around the corner and I have no gifts to give!  I’m going to be whipping up some goodies tonight before my siblings arrive tomorrow.  I’ll be back in full creative force next week, but until then I hope you all have a lovely winter holiday!

Bazaar aftermath….

SOOOOOO, yesterday’s Handmade Bazaar was a HUGE success!  I’m so happy I did it.  I also got a couple of cool little somethings, one of which I can’t show because it’s a gift for someone special!  But here’s something I bought for August.

It’s a furry eyeball keychain!  These people sitting next to me made the coolest stuffed animals and bags.  You can see their stuff here.  There were so many talented people there.  I wish I could’ve walked around more to really look at all the pretties there.  But I was busy busy, and that’s good too!  Even though I can’t show you the other goodie I bought, you can check out her website at www.timoradolores.com and see all the lovelies she has.
I sold out of magnets!  I don’t think I’ll get the magnet supplies in time for the holidays, so I’m sorry to everyone that missed them.  I’ll definitely have them later for future gift givings!

incognito flights

Oh no! There she goes! — that’s what goes through my head whenever I look at this picture and it makes me giggle. It’s been way too cold to use my easel lately (my studio is freezing!) So I’ve been doing these little illustrations on my cozy couch with watercolors & acrylics. I love them! They’re so simple and sweet. Today I finished “Flight” (above) and “Mermaid Incognito” (below). I’ll probably do a couple more later tonight after I eat the stew that’s been cooking in the slow cooker all day and is now filling my home with a savory smell.

Yesterday I didn’t find a good book to tell you all about. It was super busy in the bookstore, and I don’t think I sat down once. I failed miserably at not getting any ice cream, and had a yummy dessert after my lunch.
Well since I didn’t get to find a new book to show off, I’ll just tell you about one of my favorite books by my absolute favorite illustrator Shaun Tan.

It’s called the Red Tree and it’s so beautiful. Look at that painting! It’s amazing, and the whole book is like that! Just go to the book store and look through it… you’ll immediately fall in love.
On a completely separate note….
Venezuela’s having their presidential election today. I wonder what will happen?

a few things this morning

littles0002.jpgBreakfast is good;
especially with my hot coffee on this chilly morning.  The sun is actually shining today.  Unfortunately I have to go to work, and I’ll have to fight the urge to get some ice cream that’s so conveniently down the way.
mending.jpg
I drew a little girl mending her heart the other day.  Not that any hearts need mending for me.  These days hearts and sewing go together because I love it so.  I didn’t mean to make her look so punk rock-lolita type girl… but sometimes art has a mind of it’s own.
Now, as I’m trying to get the last few drops of coffee out of my mug, I have to run and get ready for work.  Tonight I’m going to find an extra special book to tell you all about, that’s my goal for tomorrow.
