it’s friday, i’m in love

new 105.jpg + cof.jpg = Ann’s a happy girl.

There’s nothing like a bowl of hot steaming grits drenched in cheese and a BIG mug of coffee for Breakfast. Not only that, but I have a whole mess of biscuits baking in the oven. Mmmmmmmmmmm, I love breakfast… No wait…. I just love food. Have I ever mentioned that I spent a good chunk of my childhood in Alabama? That’s where my deep-seated love of fried foods and other warm yummy comfort foods came from. Sometimes I think about all the good things I had to eat there, and my mouth starts to water. It’s been such a long time since I’ve been to the south, maybe I’ll go back one day to have a purely gluttonous trip down memory lane. I’m surprised I’m not a million pounds heavier… but I’ve still got time to work on that! I think tonight I’m going to make some fried chicken and mash potatoes and round out my day nicely.

Well, it’s time to dig up my garden some more. Hope your breakfast was as good as mine!

new lovelies for the weekend

I just posted this in the shop today…..

rooted.jpg

It took me a little while to get the impression of her arms by only drawing the roots around them. I think it turned out pretty nice myself.

And these newbies will be posted tomorrow…

I think the bunny is my favorite right now, but the little horse-girl comes in at a really close second. Then as Spring is drawing near and the weather is warming, it will soon be too warm to wear my favorite mustard yellow coat. So I decided to paint her one last time (at least until next Winter!) surrounded by some little book angels. Ah, books…. how I {heart} them. Until tomorrow then!

off days on days

Hello all!

I’ve been catching up on some sleep and digging up my garden for the coming Spring.  But don’t worry, I’ll have new pieces and prints available in my shop over the next few days!  Love to all!

little somethings

new 118.jpg

On Valentine’s Day, I came home from a LONG day at the book store to find this little package in the mail waiting for me! It’s from one of my lovely collectors, and as the button, says I LOVE mail! It was so sweet of her to think of me!

As I was at work, I was sighing over all the books I want to buy and got the idea for this painting…..

If only books grew on trees. Then I’d be a very happy girl. This little painting sold almost as soon as I posted it, but then a man from “Working America” came to my door asking for donations to support their fight for universal healthcare. So, as I’m a sucker for good causes, there went that money. Anyway, I’ll have prints of this little book tree available starting tomorrow and hopefully a couple other new originals. Hope you are all well!

wonderland

Yesterday’s Crafty Wonderland was so much fun!  Though Clara and I had very little sleep, I’m glad we did it.  There was so much great stuff there and the Dougfir has a really nice relaxed feel to it.  I think I’ll do it again in a few months.  I hope I can get a corner space though.  I got really claustrophobic being cramed between two venders.  It was very hard to move in that little 4′x4′ square, especially since Clara and I were sharing that little space! I managed to get a picture of our table early on in the day.

I was hidden behind that milk crate on the left most of the day.  In the top corner is a wire tree I made to carry miniatures of  the bird themed prints I had avaible.

All in all it was a fun day!  I hope to do another soon.  In other news, I’ll have new art up and posted soon.  I’m still in a kind of vacation mode… but I’ll squeeze out a few little lovelies soon!

flowers and nests

Today I made 2 rings.  One is a flower bouquet that I made for a friend, the second one is my attempt at a bird nest ring that I’ve been lusting after on Etsy.  I’m pretty happy with the way they turned out!

Then August and I made some banana bread.  It is SO good, I’m trying not to eat the whole thing.

I’m taking another rest from painting.  I am so tired these days, lack of sunlight I think.  I’m not motivated to paint lately, and bad ugly things are made when I paint and am not in the mood.  So I think I’ll just relax for the next couple of weeks and prepare for the Crafty Wonderland with what I have.  Which, by the way, is February 11th at the Dougfir Lounge.  Stop by if you’re in town!

hmmmm and not quite dry

rocknest.jpg

So the whole time I was painting this piece, I was wondering why in the world I would paint a bird’s nest on top of a bunch of river rocks… And I still don’t know, but I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. So, it doesn’t make any sense… I like it anyway.

I finally finished the first Horsey girl piece that I started a few weeks ago. It’s not quite dry yet, but I couldn’t wait to show her off. I think she’s so pretty with her gray body with white spots (and my mustard yellow coat too).

I’ll have better pictures when she’s completely dry and post her in my shop then. The rocky nest will be available in a few hours.

Today I was pleased to find myself displayed on the front page of Etsy! It’s only been the second time, and I got all excited. I’m very proud with how my little store is doing. All my life I dreamed of selling my art, and I really think if it wasn’t for beautiful, wonderful Etsy I’d still be struggling to be seen (and maybe still trying on ebay. EEEK!). I must say that not only is it wonderful to sell on Etsy, I LOVE to shop on Etsy. I just got a half pound of YUMMY coffee from Mud River Coffee and some really decadent irish cream fudge from Woodwise Body Solutions that is so rich it tastes like she poured the whole bottle of Baileys in the batch! mmmm…. I’m going to go have some right now. Have a great weekend everyone!
