Archive for friends

ho ho ho!

Today I finally found a present for everyone on my list.  There’s a few more that I have to stitch together, but I’m almost done!  YAY!

I finished these 2 ornaments for my mom and my brother’s wife (who just became a mama recently!).  It features Emma (my new niece) and August.

August and I hung out with the Grinch at Powell’s last week.

And many thanks to my friend John who wore that hot and heavy furry green costume!  He was wonderful!

I also finished these two watercolor & ink pieces, which I will be posting in the shop shortly.

I’m just waiting out the rest of the year.  It seems everything is trying to fit in to the last few days of 2007, but I’m so overwhelmed I can’t deal with any of it.  So I’ll just wait and take my time….

Happy December everyone!

I couldn’t think of what to name this painting.

I showed it to my friend Priscilla who surprised me a few weeks before with a watercolor travel kit that I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! The painting above was the second painting I finished with this lovely kit. The first was this….

. A Bunny Christmas .

Now back to the little girl, I showed my friend the painting. She asked me the name, and I had some silly name like “Girl with Young Trees”.

I have such a difficult time naming pieces, I usually revert to just describing the picture and call it a title… i.e. “girl with skinned knee“, “a girl and her chickens“, “girl with white flowers“, etc. etc. Maybe I’ll do something daring and paint boys, then I could name them something like, “boy with…blah blah blah…”

So, anyway, Priscilla said, “She looks like Little Red”.

And I said, “Yeah! She does look like Little Red!”

So that’s her name now…..

*Little Red* and *A Bunny Christmas* have already sold to two lovely repeat Etsy customers (Hello Sandra and Michele!), but prints are available in my shop.

And I have a new book for you to read… it’s called : The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Oh and LOOK! I was on a small corner of Powell’s Books INK recommending my favorite kid’s books! Oh how I love books….

time to come out of my shell

Three new pieces that I’m VERY pleased with. I’m keeping 2 of them for now, but I’m really tempted to keep all 3…

*Little Girl Gone*

She’s got my crazy hair, my current favorite skirt, and I’m pretty sure my head looks that big.

*Shipwrecked*

I’m loving this girl’s tearful face. I sometimes feel like a shipwreck, and I’m taking everyone aboard down with me. Those times, I take a breather, and just tell myself, “don’t freak out, don’t freak out”. Because, yes, I usually freak out and do something stupid like adopt 50 bunnies because they all looked so cute and I couldn’t pick just one.

*This isn’t a love story: and I get to keep my heart*

This little illustration is dedicated to the boy that makes the girl feel pretty even when she’s not trying.
I’ve been shut in for so long, I need to take a stretch. I think it’s time I do another show soon and see you lovely people. I’ve also been ignoring all my friends. I didn’t realize how far I sank into my isolation. I went out a couple times this week, and realized, “Oh my gosh, there are real people out here! It’s not a computer screen!” So now, I’m going to try really hard to stay connected. I do love all my peeps out there! Don’t think because I never call, I don’t care, because I really do!

Now it’s late, time to sleep.

late quickie

I just came back from watching the first 2 Twin Peaks episodes at a friends house. SOOOO GOOD! I haven’t seen them in years, but they are still one of the best things that ever happened to television. My favorites are Agent Cooper, of course… damn I love that man, and Audrey is so beautiful!

I also did a little Esty shopping while I was in California, and I must share my new pretties. I’ve been eyeing this little lady’s jewelry for so long, and now I finally have 3 of my very own LuLu Sparkles originals!

new 163.jpg They came in this lovely wrapping and I’m totally obsessing with them now. I am now in search for a jewelry box worthy to carry these babies.

I’m slowly getting my house organized. I desperately need my studio to not be in the kitchen and am dreaming of my garage being a work space one day…..
